Cara Delevingne and Gene Hackman have one clear link. Both played DC Comics characters on screen. Delevingne played Enchantress in Suicide Squad (2016). Hackman played Lex Luthor in Superman (1978) and its sequels. No public source we checked shows a family tie, a romance, a friendship, or a shared film.
Both actors played DC Comics characters in separate productions. This is a documented similarity, but no source confirms that it explains their appearance together in search results. The details are below, with official sources for each claim.
Are Cara Delevingne and Gene Hackman connected?
Not in any way that public records confirm. The sources reviewed show no family link, no romance, and no friendship between them. They also show no movie, show, or stage play that both actors took part in.
That is a finding about public evidence. It is not proof that the two never met in private. Nobody can prove that from records alone.
The one real link is professional and loose. Each actor played a DC character, but in different productions.
Did Cara Delevingne and Gene Hackman ever work together?
No shared production has been found. Their careers also sit in different eras.
Hulu’s press biography says Delevingne’s acting debut was Anna Karenina in 2012. The British Film Institute (BFI) says Hackman’s last film was Welcome to Mooseport in 2004. The BFI also reports that he later announced his retirement.
This gap helps explain why no shared project exists. It does not settle whether they ever crossed paths in real life. That is why careful articles say “not verified” instead of “never.”
What connects Cara Delevingne and Gene Hackman through DC Comics?
Both actors played well-known characters from DC Comics. DC is the publisher behind Superman, Batman, and the Suicide Squad. That is the only documented thread between the two.
It is a shared franchise, not a shared story. Being in the same comic universe does not mean two actors worked together.
Cara Delevingne as Enchantress in Suicide Squad
DC’s December 2014 casting announcement lists Cara Delevingne as Enchantress in Suicide Squad. The film came out in 2016.
DC’s character page describes Enchantress as a supernatural being linked to June Moone. It also lists her ties to the Suicide Squad team.
Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor in Superman
DC’s official Superman page lists Gene Hackman in the 1978 film. The film description ties him to the role of Lex Luthor.
DC’s official pages also confirm his return in Superman II (1980) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987). Lex Luthor became one of his best-known roles.
Do their DC roles show a shared story?
No. The official pages list two different productions, made decades apart. No source reviewed says the two characters met on screen. No source says the actors worked together either.
Think of it this way. Two actors can play characters from the same comic book company and never share a set. That fits what the records show here.
How do their career timelines compare?
A simple timeline shows why the two names rarely meet in the record. Each date below comes from the sources linked in this article.
| Person | Verified milestone | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Gene Hackman | Plays Lex Luthor in Superman | 1978 |
| Gene Hackman | Returns in Superman II | 1980 |
| Gene Hackman | Returns in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace | 1987 |
| Gene Hackman | Final film, Welcome to Mooseport (BFI) | 2004 |
| Cara Delevingne | Acting debut, Anna Karenina (Hulu) | 2012 |
| Cara Delevingne | Cast as Enchantress (DC announcement) | December 2014 |
| Cara Delevingne | Suicide Squad release | 2016 |
| Gene Hackman | Found dead at age 95, per the Associated Press | February 2025 |
Read the table from top to bottom. Hackman’s film work ended eight years before Delevingne’s acting debut. That is a strong sign that no shared film exists. It is still not proof about private meetings.
Why do Cara Delevingne and Gene Hackman appear together in search results?
No source reviewed explains this. The pairing shows up in several articles with titles like “Are They Related?” and “Is There a Connection?” Those titles suggest people want to confirm or reject a rumor.
The shared DC theme may be one point of comparison. That is a guess, not a proven cause. Search results change often, and the exact reason cannot be confirmed from the pairing alone.
Fan discussions are a useful hint here. One Smallville thread asks whether Hackman was approached for a guest role. A DC Cinematic thread discusses Delevingne’s Enchantress dance. A movies thread discusses Hackman’s film career. Each talk covers one actor alone. None of them says the two are linked.
